| About Me |
This is Julia speaking, I’m 28 years old, and lived in the USA between 1998 and 2003. So, I learned English pretty fast, just because I like languages; made friends with the other minorities, such as russians, phillipines, indians, colombians, jamaicans, etc.; went to the prom, bought my first car at the age of 17; worked as a baby-sitter… until I found out that the “land of opportunities” wasn’t giving me the opportunities I wanted. So, in 2004, at the age of 19, I enrolled college in Brazil, and had a wonderful time, until 2008. I am a Bachelor in Liberal Arts, with an emphasys on Translation Studies…but in the middle of my graduation course I realized I was in the wrong area. Had a very hard time to overcome my strong and stubborn personality in order to get my degree… went to Portugal to study Fine Arts for a semester as an exchanged student, and ended up becoming a true hybrid student. Today I am trying to recover from a great disappointment… I don’t seem to fit in the Federal Universities of Brazil for a Master’s degree because I’m not quite a language, literature, or visual art’s researcher. My personal passion relies on the creative process, the artist’s mind, and of course, art in general. For the past 2 years I have dedicated some attention to the african arts and culture, more specifically the Yoruba topic, due to its influence in the brazilian cultural identity. |
